Power Generator With Sequins March 29, 2009

I feel this beautiful art installation is a bit wasted down at the arse-end of the quays on the Northside. It’s quite a decent way of disguising a horrible power generator, covering it with sequins. But it’s only effective at night. And not many people pass that way by night. Oh well. At least I saw it.

Earth Hour, 28th March 2009. Nice to see MOST of the apartments opposite my house are blacked-out, even if the stairwells and streetlights aren’t!

There is a row of houses over that fence in my back garden – all blacked-out. Well done neighbours!

On the ferry from the North to South Island of New Zealand, you have to pass through these meandering fjords, full of trees and wildlife, while sailing on that brilliant blue water. Stunning.

I’d forgotten I had this photo! Sunset on the beach at Surfer’s Paradise throws up some beautiful colours and this lone fisherman against the waves and sky made for a cool photo. Stalkerish…?

As glaciers go, this one was fun to climb. We spent 7 hours up on top of this thing – very cold, but very exhilerating.

So-called because the spray of the erupting geyser is supposed to remind you of the 3 plumes on the crest of the Prince of Wales. Don’t know about that, but it’s still pretty amazing to watch this shoot 20 metres into the air.

A group of mates from college staying in a house by the beach in Wexford for a weekend. What more could you want…? Very posed, but still a great photo.

The sun was edging lower in the sky in the harbour as we were on the ferry and gave some wonderful lighting effects.
